About Sue Haycroft
I am a fully trained Counsellor and Psychotherapist working online and in person in Cardiff, South Wales, offering one-to-one counselling to anyone aged from 16-99yrs.
I have worked in education, in one shape or form, for over 25 years, firstly as a teacher and for the last 20 years as a counsellor. I have extensive experience with adolescents and also with adults.
My life in education taught me that the quality of our relationships affects everything we do; from learning, to working to living.
Sometimes our lives with others become strained. We lose our jobs, our partnerships, our health, our friends, or our parents, We often feel overwhelming feelings which are very difficult to understand and process and we find these hard to communicate.
We might feel constantly angry, overwhelmed with fear or anxiety or extreme loneliness. We might lose sight of ourselves, or who we would like to be and find ourselves at odds with those around us.
Psychotherapy or Counselling can help us to understand both ourselves and the way we behave with others. We can discover that patterns of behaviour which might have served us well in the past have now become inappropriate. Together we can think and reflect and try and find a way forward.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear but the triumph over it. The brave man (or woman) is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.Nelson Mandela
How does it work?
In reply to the initial inquiry we will arrange a time which suits us both, either during the day or in the evening, when you could come for an assessment session.
This first session could last up to one and a half hours if needed but sessions normally would last an hour.
In the first session we both can see if we can work with each other. It is as much about you seeing if you would like to work with me as much as me assessing if there are issues that I can help with.
You are not committed to anything after the first session but if you do decide to start working with me I ask that you commit to three sessions initially, in order to experience the therapy relationship in a little more depth.
After three sessions we would talk again about how things are going. Therapy can be time-limited, a series of any number of agreed sessions, or open-ended. We would decide on this as the work progresses.
Fees: £90 per session, with a sliding scale.
